Concentration at Its Worst

I start my homework with dogged belief

I know I’ll almost finish in two hours

I’ll work like lightning and I’ll be so brief

I will be so quick, like a dog devours

My sister, I will work to outdistance

I soar through the first three problems in math

Full to the very top with persistence

I stay strong; running from my teachers' wrath

But soon distractions sneak in like a cat

Just one small game and I am pulled away;

Fall into a wild world of this or that

My homework turns into a disarray

Though I start with high expectations

They won’t be met--thanks procrastination
